Ellen DeGeneres’ talk show has been hit with a lawsuit after the host made a boob joke.
The case is being brought forward by a Georgia woman who claims she experienced emotional distress after Ellen aired her real estate advertisement on a segment called ‘What’s Wrong With These Signs’ in February 2016. And she’s now suing the show for allegedly besmirching her good name.
DeGeneres joked about the sign reading ‘Titty Pierce’, but the defendant, Titi Pierce, says she pronounces her name as ‘Tee Tee’ and claims that no-one has ever mispronounced her name as ‘Titty’ in ‘her 35 years of life,’ according to the lawsuit.
The lawsuit also claims her mobile phone number was shown on screen, which lead to ‘ridiculing and harassing phone calls and voice mail messages’ when she was out of town at a family funeral, The Huffington Post reports.
Titi also says the mispronunciation led to ‘immediate ridicule and raucous laughter from the show’s live and television audiences’.
Pierce, an electronics engineer and real estate agent, is suing for defamation, misappropriation of likeness, false light invasion of privacy, and intentional infliction of emotional distress.
As funny as the joke may have been, it looks like Ellen may have to issue an apology or two.
