Our hearts broke when pictures of one young Syrian boy who had drowned hit the press.
Now, the father of the three-year-old boy is set to talk to the nation on Christmas Day.
Abdullah Kurdi also lost his wife and other son, five, during their attempts to flee for their lives and a better future, yet tragically their boat which was set for Greece, collapsed.
His message has been pre-recorded, and was done for Channel 4, in-keeping with their tradition of airing alternative Christmas messages.

A brief section of the transcript has been released, with Kurdi saying:
My message is, I’d like the whole world to open its doors to Syrians.
If a person shuts a door in someone’s face, this is very difficult. When a door is opened, they no longer feel humiliated.
The message will be aired after the Queen’s speech, and while it is relatively short, it is certainly set to be poignant.
