The news Alan Partridge fans have been waiting for is finally here – Steve Coogan is set to return as the legendary character in a new TV series.
Mid Morning Matters is going to return for a new series early next year – the first episode looks like it’ll be returning to Sky Atlantic on February 8, although Sky are yet to confirm this.
The series saw Alan running a new radio show, along with long suffering friend Sidekick Simon.
According to The Independent Steve Coogan’s co-writer Neil Gibbons revealed on Twitter it would be returning to our screens. When asked why Now TV had advertised the show as airing in 2015, Gibbons said: “It’s been shunted around. Was meant to be November at one point I think.”
Coogan said this of the show:
I am both thrilled, humbled, gladdened and excited to be bringing Mid Morning Matters back to Sky Atlantic.
I expect those who doubted its success feel suitably chastened to never again doubt the wisdom of my career choices and to say nothing in response unless their comments are wholly supportive and positive. I hope I’ve made myself clear… thank you, let’s leave it there.
Now we just need to wait for Youth Hostelling with Chris Eubank to be commissioned for a full series…
