It has not been a good year for Hulk Hogan, and it got even worse at the weekend after he was trolled online into retweeting an image skinny shaming Cheryl Fernandez-Versini.
Hogan retweeted a message that suggested Cheryl was an HIV sufferer, alongside an image of her looking skinny taken from an ITV advert for the Text Santa campaign.
The message read:
‘Hi @HulkHogan my sister is HIV positive can she have a RT please.’
And it included an image similar to the tweet below which has also done the rounds online to shame Cheryl’s fragile looking frame.
Sadly Hulk took the bait and it was not until other users pointed out his error that the tweet was deleted.
He also posted a message suggesting he will step away from social media, citing his disappointment in how it is abused.
His disappointment is understandable, although perhaps a little naive considering Hogan fell for a similar joke at his expense in March of this year.
The former wrestling idol retweeted an image of Madeleine McCann that referred to the lost child as a ‘hide and seek competition’ winner.
Hogan was also fired by the WWE and removed from the Wrestling Hall of Fame after the use of a racial slur to describe his daughter’s boyfriend was caught on camera.
Hogan apologised for his actions, revealing the incident left him feeling suicidal.
And then of course there was his leaked sex tape. 2016 certainly can’t come soon enough for Hulk.
