We all knew she’d have something to say about it didn’t we? Everyone’s least favourite shit-stirrer Katie Hopkins has spoken out after students walked out of a university debate she was speaking at the moment she opened her mouth.

In a typical show of gross misunderstanding an angry Hopkins has claimed the protest was “actively encouraged” by staff.

In an article for Mail Online, she wrote:

Was it something I said? Hardly – because I’d only just introduced myself as part of a panel at Brunel University about the future of the welfare state when about 50 students stood, turned their backs in and walked out en masse, as part of a staged protest, actively encouraged by a member of the University staff who promptly tweeted his support.

She then quoted Peter Beresford, who had tweeted: “@Bruneluni Glad students came 2debate, happy they protested, but walking out on Katie Hopkins sadly doesn’t make her go away (sic)”

Hopkins has offended pretty much anyone you can imagine calling refugees cockroaches, hitting out at full-time mothers and and branding food banks ‘a con’, A video of the awkward moment has surfaced online showing more than a hundred students standing up in unison before giving the opinionated columnist the cold shoulder.

Ali Milani, president of students of Brunel’s student union said:

The conversation at no point has been about banning Ms Hopkins from speaking on campus, or denying her right to speak. It is instead about saying it is distasteful for our University to provide a platform to someone who adds nothing to the intellectual or academic discourse; and an individual who publicly utters such overtly bigoted views.
