Last week the world was shocked and saddened after a mother in Milwaukee was fatally shot by her young child.
But despite the worldwide reaction to the story, a disturbing number of families across America are also dealing with similar tragedies.

What’s even more worrying is that toddlers seem to be getting their hands on increasing amounts of guns. Last year the three-and-under age group was shooting one person a week – which is staggering – but this year they’ve upped the ante and shot 23 people in under 18 weeks.
The vision of a child bearing down on you with a handgun is chilling. But tragically in almost 80% of the incidents toddlers accidentally shoot themselves. This year half of those children died of their wounds – which means nine young lives have been lost in four months.
While these statistics of toddlers shooting people are truly shocking it’s important to keep them in context, last year over 13,000 people were killed by firearms in US.
That’s more than 35 every single day.
