Police are investigating after artwork for a charity children’s book containing One Direction was defaced with a penis sketch.

The artwork, produced by renowned illustrator Julia Patton, disappeared while being couriered from Northumberland to the boy band in London to be signed.

The lost drawings emerged three weeks later, but pages had been torn and a penis crudely added to one of her sketches.

The Curious Tale of Fi-Rex was co-written by 25 celebrities, including Sir Paul McCartney and Keith Lemon, for Children in Need, and it had been hoped the original artwork could be auctioned off for around £130,000, but the pages are now supposedly worthless.

Patton has spoken of her devastation at the act of vandalism, saying:

I couldn’t believe what had happened. I had spent months creating these characters and pages for all of the stars.

Courier firm TNT, who are actually one of Children in Need’s corporate partners, have released a statement in response to the revelations.

A spokesperson said:

TNT apologises unreservedly for the distress and inconvenience caused by the regrettable loss and subsequent damage to this piece of artwork.

The image below is of one of the original sketches, and although it does not contain the offending penis, there are certainly some cock-like resemblances.

Given Harry Styles has previously forked out £20,000 on art that contained penises, maybe someone just thought they were bringing the sketches more in line with his taste?
