An Italian priest has been arrested after he was allegedly caught meeting teenage boys through gay dating app Grindr.
According to Italian media reports, 44-year-old Priest Antoello Tropea was arrested after police reportedly found him in a car with a teenager in a secluded area.
As reported by the Independent, the priest is said to have claimed to be a physical education teacher when he was approached by the cops.
Tropea was also reportedly found with “suspicious items” in his bag.
Apparently, the priest’s behaviour was discovered after a two-month police investigation uncovered how he was using the dating app under the name ‘Nicola’.
According to La Repubblica, an Italian bishop is alleged to have known about Tropea and actually advised him to avoid the police.
