Sarah Payne’s killer, Roy Whiting, has been battered and scalded in a brutal prison attack.
According to the Mirror, the convicted paedophile who is serving a 40 year sentence for the murder of eight-year-old Sarah in 2000, was badly hurt in the incident in which he was reportedly beaten with a hot water flask.
A source told the Sun: “He got clobbered from behind. It wasn’t major but shows he’s still a target.”
Whiting has reportedly received treatment in the prison medical centre but did not need to be taken to hospital.
However, this is not the first time Whiting has been the victim of a prison attack. In 2011, he was stabbed in the eyes with a sharpened toilet brush.
The 56-year-old is serving a life sentence after being convicted of the abduction and murder of Sarah Payne in December 2001.
Sarah’s mum Sara Payne has become an outspoken child protection campaigner who successfully lobbied for the Child Sex Offender Disclosure Scheme – Sarah’s Law – which was enacted in the UK in 2011.
The law allows parents, carers and guardians to formally ask the police to tell them if someone who has access to their children has a record for any criminal convictions.
