A Syrian refugee who fled his war-torn homeland in 2011 just hit the jackpot, winning one million euros on the French lottery.
As reported by the Mirror, the unnamed winner bought the lucky scratchcard in the Paris suburb of Seine-Saint-Denis last June, but details of the win have only just been released by the French lottery operator.
The lucky man told French daily Le Parisien he used the life-changing £760,000 cash prize to buy an apartment and he now plans to open a restaurant.
He also wants to bring the rest of his family from Syria to France, after settling in Paris five years ago and finding work as a labourer.
This isn’t the first awesome win like this either – last month, a Senegalese migrant saved from a sinking ship by the Spanish coastguard won £300,000 in Spain’s Christmas lottery draw.
What an amazing story!
