If you’re one of the many people who gets frustrated with people dawdling in front of you, you’re probably delighted with the news that Britain has just opened its first fast walking lanes for pedestrians in a rush.
Those in Liverpool who love life in the fast lane will now be able to speed through the crowds on the city’s St John’s Street around the hectic Liverpool One shopping centre.
The lanes are being trialled in the city from November 2-8 but if they prove as popular as we’re all expecting, they’ll probably stick around for even longer.
According to the Independent, the introduction of the lanes comes following research from Argos which found that 47 per cent of people in the UK find slow walking the most annoying aspect of high street shopping. We can vouch for that one!
The research also revealed that people despised fighting their way through the crowds, people stopping in the middle of the street to chat and “pavement hoggers”, because ain’t nobody got time for that!
With Liverpool leading the way ahead of the manic Christmas shopping season, we can’t help but wonder how long it’ll be until other big cities around Britain follow suit and bring in some fast lanes of their own.
