Unbelievably, last year more Americans were killed by guns operated by young children than by Islamist terrorists.
That’s right – 21 people lost their lives after being shot by toddlers whereas 20 people were killed in terrorist attacks by radical Islamists, reports Konbini.
Accidents in the U.S involving very young children and firearms are fairly common – earlier this month earlier Jamie Gilt – a pretty high profile figure for America’s pro-gun campaign – was shot in the back by her four-year-old son.
According to journalist Lindy West, figures from Snopes.com support these claims:
The figures indicate that 21 toddlers (aged five or under) have killed themselves or others with a firearm in 2015.
20 Americans have died from the hands of terrorists or alleged Islamic terrorists.
The number of Americans killed in terrorist attacks is arrived on by adding the four dead in an attack against military sites in Chattanooga, Tennessee, the fourteen victims of the San Bernardino massacre and the victim from the Paris attacks.
Surveys show U.S citizens to be very concerned about Islamist terrorism whereas the threat from kids with deadly assault weapons barely registers on the collective radar.
In fact, Muslim extremists pose less of a threat to life in the U.S even than other ‘terrorist’ groups according to the New York Times:
Since September 11, 2001, almost twice as many people were killed by white supremacists, anti-state fanatics and other non-Muslim extremists than by radicalised Muslims.
Personally I would say a certain Republican Presidential candidate poses more of a threat to U.S security than a million strong cloned army of radicalised, bloodthirsty toddlers with AK47s…
