A festival offering guests a glimpse of the cutting edge world of ‘artificial sex’ is coming to London this December.

The International Congress on Love and Sex with Robots had previously being banned in Malaysia but is planned to go ahead at Goldsmiths University in south east London between December 19-20.

The conference will explore a number of themes from cyber sex toys to humanoid robots, The Daily Star reports.

Dr Kate Devlin a Goldsmiths computing lecturer who is organising the conference believes that it’s time to explore new approaches to robo-sexuality.

She said:

I think robots could become our lovers in the future. Does love have to be reciprocated in order to be valid?

Dr Devlin has defended the notion of ‘robosexuality’ in the past arguing a ban on human robot relationships was wrong.

Her research aims to create a new narrative while  moving away from the idea of sex robots defined as machines used as sex objects, as substitutes for human partners, made by men, for men.

While some people may turn their nose up at the idea of sleeping with a robot some experts claim that sleeping with robots will overtake sex with humans by 2050.

Who knows maybe they’re right and we’re heading for a Westworld style robosexual theme park.
