Nowadays if you want to look at some NSFW material on your computer, you can simply open up an incognito tab and never have to worry about your mum finding a folder containing all kinds of unthinkable filth.

In the 1980s they didn’t have such luxury. Technology wasn’t as advanced and porn wasn’t anywhere near as accessible. However, there were a few programmes that catered for those lonely nights at home. And they were pretty fucking weird.

Imgur user Huxley bought a Macintosh SE from 1987 for $30 (£23) and got quite a surprise when he repaired it and booted it for the first time. There was an interactive programme called MacPlaymate installed on the retro machine.

He told Reddit:

This is the first time I’ve picked up an old computer and ended up very grateful that there was no keyboard or mouse included.

Basically, what happens in the game is a virtual woman called Maxie appears on the screen and asks if you think her body is sexy, which is bizarre considering she’s black and white and has a body made of pixels.

After you exchange pleasantries with Maxie via your 80s Mac, she soon strips off and I’m sure you can guess what happens next.

The programme comes installed with a panic button which ingeniously brings up a boring spreadsheet in case someone walks in while you’re telling Maxie to remove her pixel panties.

Next time you’re browsing PornHub, just remember how fortunate you are.
