Brothels where prostitutes sell sex from menus and are chosen from lingerie-clad line-ups are often thought as illegal, but for ‘brothel country’ in Nevada, it’s completely normal.

The Bunny Ranch, owned by Dennis Hof, offers out a souvenir menu of the sex acts on offer to its customers.

The prostitutes, with names like Air Force Amy, Misty Matrix and Hollywood, are lined up for the paying clients to choose from. It may all sound illegal, but it’s not.

Nevada consists of 18 licensed brothels where it is legal only with a sex worker inside a licensed property, and CNN reporter Lisa Ling has revealed that some women can work for just a few weeks a year from the money that they earn selling sex.

Of the 18 licensed brothels in Nevada, Hof owns seven of them.

The Bunny Ranch, a 24/7 hour operation, sees prostitutes renting their rooms and having sex with up to 20 people a night, the Mirror reports.

A sexual ‘party’, as they call it, can last from a few minutes to a few days depending on how deep the customer’s pockets are – but working at the brothel means they agree to give 50 per cent of their earnings to the ‘house’.

While prostitution is legal in Nevada, its illegal to list prices for sex work. Meaning, sex workers at brothels like Bunny Ranch have to negotiate their prices – and they get pretty good at it.

Sarah, a 25-year-old who has worked in legal prostitution for two years, explained to Ling: “All of the girls are independent contractors. So what I might charge for a certain party, somebody else charges half or double.”

As for the risk of STD’s, the difference between legal and illegal prostitution and their link to sexual-related diseases is astounding.

While on The Dr Oz Show, Ling explained what the women are risking and why it’s ‘worthwhile’:

Things are different in a legal brothel. They are checked for STDs every single week and a couple of the women said they don’t have sex outside of their work because STDs are so rampant.

So while with illegal prostitution, women may have no say in who they sleep with, the legal brothels in Nevada allow prostitutes to sell sex through their own choice.
