Apple was left red-faced after its latest iOS update unleashed a filthy tidal wave of explicit images onto unsuspecting users…

To the outrage of many parents, kids sending messages on iPhones and iPads were suddenly being barraged with images wholly inappropriate for their innocent little eyes, reports The Sun.

Basically, the new update gives you the option of attaching a GIF to your text message. Software scans the message then comes up with a series of suggested GIFS that could be sent along with it – which all sounds pretty innocent.

However, things went slightly awry when shocked users found that typing harmless phrases like ‘hard’, ‘huge’ or ‘oh my God’ in their texts was conjuring up some pretty explicit porn images.

Overtly sexual words such as ‘giant dildo’ or ‘anal beads’ (for example) are blocked from the software but people quickly discovered that more obscure phrases were resulting in a slideshow of pornographic material.

One mother told The Verge how her young daughter had used the word ‘huge’ in a text – only to be confronted with a moving image of a woman performing fellatio on a gentleman’s ‘large’ member.

She said:

I saw the image come up like, ‘whoa whoa whoa’, that’s a hardcore porn image. I grabbed the phone from her immediately.

She typed in the word ‘huge,’ which isn’t sexual in any nature – it’s just a word, not like ‘butt’ or anything else.

‘Butt’ ??!! Is that the best she could come up with?

Apple has apologised for its x-rated error and is now removing the explicit GIFs from the new operating system.

Whoops.
