Caitlin Stasey, the actor and female rights activist, has released another very NSFW image of herself in protest to Instagram’s nudity restrictions.

Stasey, best known for her role as Rachel Kinsey in Australia’s most-loved TV show, Neighbours, has been censored on Instagram again for images the platform deems pornographic.

The blatant disregard of Instagram’s policy makes a powerful statement against the censorship of the naked female form that purveys the mainstream media and misogynistic commentators.

Stasey captioned the nude photograph:

Hey. I know you’re frightened. But it’s okay. I’m okay. You’re okay. The world is filled to the brim with countless ills and sadnesses. I’m lucky. Loved. Supported. Healthy. Happy. I hope you are too. I’m sorry if you aren’t.

I don’t think clogging my comments with your frustration will change that.

But what do I know. I’m a dumb slut with no self respect.

Instagram’s community guidelines state that nudity is not allowed, even if the image are artistic, educational or creative in nature.

…Which pretty much rules out the entire history of art; an ironic move for a platform that claims to champion creativity and individuality while encouraging people to filter their lives in every way possible.

The actress is known for her outspoken stance on pretty much everything – from contentious subjects close to her heart such as animal rights and feminism, to her comedic stylings on growing older and apparent toilet humour.

Undoubtedly, Caitlin is right to challenge the censorship rules enforced by social media platforms and her methods are controversially making waves in the system, with a lot of support from endorsers of the #FreeTheNipple campaign.

This news comes on the same day that Facebook have announced a newfound leniency when it comes to post containing nudity.

Perhaps the support for Caitlin will encourage Instagram to take a more realistic and grown-up approach.
