This week, a man who spent a third of his annual salary on strippers sued the gentlemen’s club he went to – he won the settlement, along with sympathy from other men.

Gil David, a 34-year-old fitness club manager, blew £7,500 at Spearmint Rhino in Bournemouth and claimed the club had taken advantage of his drunkenness and ‘grossly exploited him’, Belfast Live reports.

David said:

I wasn’t in control of my faculties and didn’t realise what I was doing and what I was spending.

I was coerced into spending what turned out to be a third of my salary in five hours. I’m not an oligarch or a footballer.

The gentlemen’s club denied any wrongdoing at Central London County Court, but agreed an out-of-court settlement.

Now, an ex-stripper has come forward to reveal exactly how strippers get men to spend big. And as you’d expect, it’s sneaky.

Riley Johnson, who’s been stripping in clubs from the age of 18 in Manchester and Sheffield, told Diana Appleyard for The Sun:

From the moment a guy walks through the door, the aim is to make as much money from him as possible.

Usually they’re drinking heavily too, so they’re much easier to fleece. They seem to leave their brains at the door and it’s all about impressing their friends.

She added: “What you have to remember about these clubs is that they are a business.”

First, Johnson and the other strippers would make men buy booze – ideally champagne or bottles of vodka, which can cost as much as £500. Then they charge £60 on top to sit down and have a drink with them.

Next they would lean in towards them or touch them on the leg, to, as Johnson puts it, ‘get them hot and steamy’.

After that, they’d compliment the men.

She said:

I can’t believe they believed all this, but they fell for it every time. Soon they’d be eating out of our hands.

Often you’d know it was money they did not have or could not afford to lose, which made me feel bad.

But money is what counts. Our job was to make them spend.

As for the guy who won the case against Spearmint Rhino? Johnson says she’s not surprised, noting that most men had no idea how much they spent until they saw their credit card bill.

She added:

I’m not surprised that guy who sued Spearmint Rhino spent more than £7,000, I’ve seems that happen many times, or even as much as £10,000 in one night. But usually they’re drunk.

Word to the wise – these women are paid to get as much cash out of you as possible. If you have no willpower, maybe leave your card at home.
