No of course it’s not in the UK! We’re far too prudish, unlike the Kiwis, to turn up to the races in the nude.

So soon after the inebriated Aussie antics at Melbourne Cup Day, they are showing us how it’s done by wearing nothing but body paint to the annual Trotting Cup Day in Christchurch, New Zealand.

It was part of the ZM Body Art contest that saw models strutting their thin layer of artistically drawn paint.

One woman went for superher0-inspired paint in the style of a comic book character, while another bares a breasts underneath a painted sash reading ‘Miss Canterbury’.

The runway at Addington Raceway saw a very impressive array of colours and imaginative design.

Prior to judging, NZ Cup and Show Week ambassador, Laura McGoldrick, said:

I will be looking for confidence, colour and a funky fascinator.

The rest of the judging panel was made up of Gold medal-winning Paralympian Sophie Pascoe and Westfield NZ stylist, Luke Bettesworth.

The winner was in fact ‘Miss Canterbury’, real name Angelah Rose Crossan, who showcased the designs of artist Angel Pethig.

Crossan told Daily Mail Australia:

It was an honour to be a canvas for Angela. She was incredible to work with and I look forward to seeing what Angela achieves in the future!

It took around 10 hours to prepare each model, but the concepts and designs, as well as the accessories have taken months to prepare.

Just imagine if people did this at the oh-so-civilised Ascot!
