Bella Thorne is the latest Disney child star to grow up, much to people’s shock and horror.

Despite the continual and relentless passage of time, people are still surprised that 19-year-old Bella Thorne is a grown woman with the capacity to express her sexuality in any way she sees fit.

The Shake It Up actress has recently appeared in her first Playboy spread, with beautifully sultry results.

Of course, some people have criticised the previously clean-cut Bella for the change in her image, claiming she’s becoming too edgy and adult.

The critics claim Bella is following in Miley Cyrus’ footsteps by eschewing the clean-cut image of her former Shake It Up alter ego, CeCe Jones.

These people are apparently unable to distinguish between TV and life, failing to understand that Bella is indeed not the same person as the character she used to play. Clue’s in the name, really.

The shoot was apparently an homage to the late-great David Bowie, although I can’t see anything that would suggest this is accurate, besides the red silk jacket worn by Bella which is emblazoned with the icon’s name.

Undeniably, Bella has used the Chloe Aftel Playboy shoot, which will appear in the magazine’s November issue, to create as much buzz around her transition into adulthood, Snapchatting the whole shoot for her followers.

As per 2016, Twitter put their two cents in, reacting to the shoot with varying degrees of disdain and admiration.

But Bella has responded to her haters, telling them in no uncertain terms to ‘fuck off’.

Bella said:

People are constantly trying to change me, every second of the day, especially on social media.

People like to comment on how my image is too edgy, that I’m too edgy, and on how they wish I looked.

It’s a lot of ‘do this, don’t do that.’ To them I say, fuck off.

The Florida-born teenager has become a symbol of defiance and confidence for a lot of young American girls. The youngster is trying to teach her tween fan base some life lessons she’s learnt along the way.

She added:

There’s this effort to try to shame a woman’s sexiness by pulling a cover over it, but I’m a woman who loves skin. I love skin on me, I love skin on girls, I love skin on guys.

If you’re confident enough to show off your body, you should. Be confident. It can be difficult to get yourself to focus on you all the time, especially when you’re trying to transition into who you really are, but I’m not going to change for anybody else. I love staying true to me.

So that’s that. Bella is going to stay true to herself while earning her multi-millions, sticking to the new cool stereotypes pushed by fashion magazines and pandering her followers as she lives her life online.

Thus is the way of celebrity culture in 2016.
