Playboy has revealed its first ever new-look issue and there are no naked models.
Before you ask, no this isn’t a joke. The magazine which is famed for featuring nude girls, including the likes of Pamela Anderson and Kate Moss, has had a massive SFW overhaul.
Playboy took the decision in October last year to try and become more accessible as it enters its 63rd year.
The magazine has a more contemporary feel, reflected in its choice of cover star Sarah McDaniel – a model known best for her Snapchat and Instagram accounts. The front cover is similar to a Snapchat image and pictured in a ‘selfie style’.
Playboy also chose Sarah McDaniel as she is a model who rose to fame through her use of social media.
Airbrushing images to enhance their models in the magazine has also been ditched as the magazine tries to head in a new direction.
Explaining the move away from nudity Cory Jones, Playboy‘s Chief Content Officer, told the New York Times: “You’re now one click away from every sex act imaginable for free. And so it’s just passe at this juncture.”
It’s all change for the company at the moment. Just a few weeks back they announced they’d be selling the Playboy mansion, but the new owner would have to house old Hef.
Other editorial changes in the Playboy rebrand include a ‘sex-positive female’ writing a sex column, art and more coverage of liquor.
