A plus-size model posed for a naked beach shoot with the hopes of encouraging people to be comfortable in their own skin.

Australian model Laura Wells also shared a photo on her Instagram from when she says she ‘wasn’t 100% happy with her body’.

The caption reads:

When you are comfortable in your own skin it allows you to focus on things bigger than yourself and put your time and effort into making your world what you want it to be. You will never be 100% satisfied with your body and will always have things you dont like but those things should not take up your time and energy.

This photo was taken a little while ago when I wasnt 100% happy with my body. Looking back now I think how ridiculous it was to think like that. One thing I will never do is allow how I perceive my body to stop me from doing or achieving things. At the end of the day its your choice!

The size 14 model was photographed by Art Provocative, whose Tumblr is very NSFW and focusses on the female form.

Wells previously worked in New York, where she lived with skinnier models who were told by their agents to stick to a diet of ‘one cracker and a couple of glasses of water’, the Daily Mail reported.

She’s since spoken out about the extreme measures models go to, telling Australian Women’s Weekly the pressure to be thin ‘went to extremes’, adding: “It’s completely unhealthy, not only for their body but mentally as well”.

Wells was spotted by talent scouts while studying science and law in New York back in 2005, and is now an environmental scientist.

She originally thought she was being called fat when people described her as a ‘plus-size’ model, but to be plus sized you only need to be four to six times bigger than a regular model – which is pretty skinny – and not what most people would consider plus size.
