Paralympian Oscar Pistorius was released from prison last night after serving just 12 months of a five year sentence behind bars for killing his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp on Valentine’s Day 2013.
Now, photos have emerged of his uncle’s massive mansion where the disgraced athlete will serve the remainder of his term under house arrest.
The three-storey property in South African capital Pretoria is believed to be worth around £1 million and the huge home features sweeping verandas, landscaped gardens and a swimming pool.
It’s a bit of a change from the cramped prison spell where the 28-year-old spent the last year.
If prosecutors have their way, however, Pistorius will be back behind bars soon – they plan to appeal to South Africa’s Supreme Court to get the sentence upgraded to murder, which could see the ‘Blade Runner’ locked up for another 15 years.
As part of the terms of his early release, Pistorius will be required to meet Steenkamp’s parents Barry and June “if and when they agree to meet him”, according to correctional services minister Michael Masutha.
