The Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump was rushed off stage last night after a major security scare during a rally.
Trump was making a speech in Reno, Nevada when bodyguards interrupted The Apprentice star’s speech, taking him back stage as quickly as possible.
Security officers then took down the man who sparked the incident and he was later arrested by police officers in Reno, The Daily Star reports.
It was initially believed that the man was carrying a gun and he was identified as Austyn Crites, 33, a protester for the Republicans against Trump group.
The incident began when a member of the crowd allegedly shouted ‘gun’ and Crites claims he was punched and kicked by Trump supporters as they tried to take him down.
Security officers managed to get him out of the convention centre and hold him in a toilet until police arrived.
Crites was released however when police discovered that he wasn’t carrying a weapon although both the Reno police and the U.S. Secret Service are still investigating the matter.
A spokesman for Reno police said:

Immediately in front of the stage, an unidentified individual shouted ‘gun’. Secret Service agents and Reno Police Officers immediately apprehended the subject.
