If you had to ask a stranger on the street what the key to happiness is they’d probably throw a handful of desirable goals your way – one of which would undoubtedly be more sex.
But is sex really that vital when it comes to happiness? Yes, yet it is.
And what is the magic number, I hear you ask. Just once. Once a week.
According to The Sun, a new investigation into the correlation between being happy and having sex, carried out by a bunch of top scientists, revealed that couples who get intimate with one another once a week come off far happier than those with a shit-ton of cash.
If you get it on more than once a week then that’s not an issue, but contrary to popular belief, it won’t lead to any further happiness – claims the study which looked into the sex lives of over 30,000 couples for four decades.
The lead researcher, Dr Amy Muise from the University of Toronto, said:
Although more frequent sex is associated with greater happiness, this link was no longer significant at a frequency of more than once a week.
Our findings suggest that it’s important to maintain an intimate connection with your partner, but you don’t need to have sex everyday as long as you’re maintaining that connection.
Despite countless theories and rumours claiming that men want more sex than women, and that your weekly dose of intercourse simmers down into non-existence when you get a little older, the study found that neither of these claims were true.
Dr Muise added:
Our findings were consistent for men and women, younger and older people, and couples who had been married for a few years or decades.
So there you have it guys. If you want to be happy then the answer is simple. Have sex once a week.
