Everyone loves Ed Sheeran.
Mainly because he’s one of the nicest guys in music, and is also pretty talented, which is a novelty in a world of autotune and X Factor acts.
Now the ginger singer has gone and outdone himself, giving a woman the chance to pay off her mortgage.
The 24-year-old shared the story about his friend, Amy Wadge, who went round to his house for a songwriting session when she was strapped for cash – and ended up writing Thinking Out Loud, which went on to become one of Ed’s biggest hits.
She was going through financial troubles about a year ago.
She drove to my house – my album was nearly done – and she asked if I could put a song from when I was 17 on the deluxe album, so she could get a little bit of money and pay the mortgage and bills and stuff.
While she was there, we wrote Thinking Out Loud. Now she never has to worry about money again.
She’s got a family and two kids and stuff and every time I speak to her, she’s going on holiday. It’s really nice to see. It wouldn’t have happened if she hadn’t come down from Wales to see me.
Obviously Amy deserved the song writing credit, given she wrote the song, which has been streamed half a billion times.
That being said, it’s still nice to see Ed giving her the chance to make some cash – and being willing to put another song on the album if that hadn’t worked out.
