The lyrics ‘If you wanna be my lover, you gotta get with my friends’ have just taken on an alarming new significance.
Seeming more than a little put out, Mel B confirmed that she was the only Spice Girl not to join forces with the then Take That superstar.
Ex-Scary Spice, Mel B was speaking on Australian radio during The Kyle and Jackie O Show, when she said:
Robbie apologised to me yesterday. He’s said he’s had liaisons with all the Spice Girls and I said ‘not me – I’m the only one you haven’t.’ He said it’s all been taken out of context, so he got a slap on the wrist from me.
This admission comes years after Robbie revealed he was ‘very fortunate to have been in Take That and four out of five of the Spice Girls’.
The maths adds up and Mel B seems to have corroborated Mr Williams’ claim.
Meanwhile, only a matter of months ago, Williams’ wife Ayda Field – dressed as Posh Spice on daytime chat show Loose Women – joked about her husband’s history with the five-piece girl band.
Girls wanted to be them and guys wanted to be with them, and it seems the band’s unique brand of Girl Power even held sway over the nation and pop sensations alike.
That’s one way to spice up your life, Robbie.
