On paper, the feud between Kanye West and Taylor Swift is a pretty simple one.
It all started at the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards when Kanye West made his feelings very clear about Swift beating Beyonce to the VMA for Best Female Video award.
As Swift took to the stage to give her acceptance speech, Kanye cried out: “Yo Taylor, I’m really happy for you, I’ll let you finish, but Beyoncé has one of the best videos of all time. One of the best videos of all time!”
It’s all basically snowballed from there and now we’re at a point, in 2016, where this relationship seems to be at rock bottom.
But, this is where it gets complicated. We’ve always thought this is one of the biggest celebrity feuds ever, but could this offer some proof that this whole fight is fabricated?
A new report claims that Taylor Swift did approve Kanye West’s track ‘Famous’, in which the lyrics brand Swift as a ‘bitch’.
In documents seen by The Sun, a legal letter from Swift’s lawyers allegedly orders the rapper to destroy the tape which ultimately could prove that Swift approved it.
Friends of Kanye believe it shows that Taylor has something to hide and that she has not been truthful about her part in the controversial song.
A source close to the rapper said:
Taylor got her lawyers to threaten Kanye and demanded that the recording was killed. They stressed the phone call was confidential and that publishing it would violate her rights. It validates that a taped conversation where Taylor was on board with the song does exist, and just shows how worried she is about the truth coming out.
This comes after Kanye’s wife Kim Kardashian in a recent interview with GQ, said Taylor was fully aware the rapper had referenced her in his song, with the lyric saying: “I feel like me and Taylor might still have sex/Why? I made that bitch famous.”
She totally approved that. She totally knew that that was coming out. She wanted to all of a sudden act like she didn’t. I swear, my husband gets so much shit for things (when) he really was doing proper protocol and even called to get it approved.Advertisement
Swift decided to furiously hit back at the allegations, saying that while she did speak to Kanye on the phone she never approved the track as the rapper didn’t play it for her.
Her rep said:
Taylor has never denied that conversation took place. It was on that phone call that Kanye West also asked her to release the song on her Twitter account, which she declined to do. Kanye West never told Taylor he was going to use the term, “that bitch” in referencing her. A song cannot be approved if it was never heard. Kanye West never played the song for Taylor Swift. Taylor heard it for the first time when everyone else did and was humiliated. Kim Kardashian’s claim that Taylor and her team were aware of being recorded is not true, and Taylor cannot understand why Kanye West, and now Kim Kardashian, will not just leave her alone.
Whether this beef is true or not, we can’t fucking wait till it all blows over- too much drama.
