In possibly the most bizarre news of the day, the infamous former footballer, Adam Johnson, has reportedly set up a prison football team with other sex offenders.
Yeah, we’re pretty speechless too.
The disgraced footballer, who was sent down for six years after admitting grooming and sexual activity with a 15-year-old girl, has offered to coach the team who will wear Sunderland shirts for their games, reports the Daily Star.
A source said:
Johnson is delighted to be playing football again, although he’s not that happy that his team is going to be made up of paedos and perverts.
Football is his life. He has been told to get a team trained up ready to play against other wings in the prison.Advertisement
Some of the matches will be a bit fruity because sex offenders are probably the most hated inmates in the prison. The team are training a couple of times week but he thinks they should be training every day.
I guess ‘fruity’ is one way to put it.
The team’s home ground will be the Category C Moorland Prison which houses Johnson while also featuring a full size football pitch as well as a weight room.
Apparently, the sex offender has already started doing some trials and the team should be playing by next week.
Johnson was spared being sent to a Category A prison because officials feared for his safety as a high profile sex offender.
