Antoine Griezmann has had a pretty decent season.
He fired Atletico Madrid to the Champions League final, and was top scorer at Euro 2016 as France also reached the final.
Forgetting the fact that his side lost on both occasions, Griezmann attracted interest in his services from Europe’s top clubs, and was heavily linked with an Atleti exit.
However, the 25-year-old has clarified his club future after receiving offers from around the world following the end of Euro 2016.
Offers? I have always been very clear, I have no intentions of leaving Atletico, Cholo [Simeone] and my teammates.
Yes some calls arrived but I didn’t listen to them.
I have no doubts: I have the will and desire to win something with Atletico.
That’s good news for Atletico then, who have built one of the strongest teams in the world under the guidance of Diego Simeone.
The team spirit at the Vicente Calderon is second to none, and it looks like that was enough for one of the world’s hottest properties to stick with the La Liga challengers.
However, if one club is likely to be in for the Frenchman if he does become available, it’s Manchester United.
Griezmann’s friend and teammate, Paul Pogba, finally ended a transfer saga of his own by rejoining his old team this summer, and Griezmann is happy for his mate.
I speak to him often these days, we’re close friends.
It’s a shame for Juventus because they lost a great player, but I’m very happy for Paul.
Manchester United spent €105 million to buy him back? Football is like this.
What is certain is in these years Paul improved dramatically at Juventus.
Who knows, maybe we could one day see Pogba and Griezmann in the same side at club level, potentially playing under Jose Mourinho at Old Trafford?
Now that would be one serious team!
