Arsenal don’t like a lot of things.
Spending money and winning the league are two, but one of their worst fears is Didier Drogba.
The Chelsea legend smashed 13 goals in 14 games against the Gunners while he was in the Premier League to leave Arsene Wenger tearing his hair out, and even when he was at Galatasaray, managed to net against Arsene Wenger’s side.
Drogba vs Arsenal was a mismatch, but now it’s set to happen again, with the Gunners facing an MLS All-Star team in a pre-season friendly.
Despite being 38, Drogba has been in fine form in America, scoring 11 goals in as many games for Montral Impact last season as they reached the Eastern Conference semi finals.
And it’s that form that has seen him included in the all-star team, which also boasts the likes of Andrea Pirlo, David Villa and Giovani dos Santos.
The squad has been voted for by MLS fans, and commissioner (because Americans can’t call a manager a manager) Dominic Kinnear has added two mandatory picks also.
Hopefully Kinnear is no relation to Joe Kinnear, otherwise everyone in attendance will be offended.
Also in the squad is defensive legend Liam Ridgewell, so presumably Arsenal won’t score.
Meanwhile, Drogba will be ripping the Gunners to shreds and ensuring Arsene Wenger leaves America with nothing but night terrors about an Ivorian powerhouse.
