Away from all the excitement of Euro 2016, one of the biggest transfer stories of the summer has finally been put to bed, with Jamie Vardy signing a contract extension at Leicester City.
The England man has snubbed an approach from Arsenal to stay at the King Power stadium, penning a new four-year deal just four months after inking a similar improvement on his previous contract.
As you’re no doubt aware, Arsenal fans love Twitter more than life itself, so there was an outpouring of bitter Gunners on the social media site this morning, as they tried to convince everyone that they didn’t want Vardy anyway – how very Manchester United of them.
Here’s the best of the lot:
There was some EU Referendum based banter:

And the Vines came thick and fast:

Of course, the Arsenal fans were in defiant mood:
Jamie Vardy the star of England's epic match with Slovakia will stay with Leicester. Not sad about that, sorry.

@RealMattLucas 30yr old soon, only big chance and turns it down, he is silly

Wenger 20 years later: 'I almost signed Jamie Vardy when he was 29.' #AFC

As long as we get another striker I'm not too disappointed that Vardy doesn't want to join, there are much better options available #AFC

Including the biggest arse of them all:
Others accused Vardy of chasing the money:
Arsenal came knocking so Vardy demanded more money from Leicester, four months after getting £80k-a-week. Nothing loyal there.

Wenger tempting Vardy so he gets a contract renewal and breaks Leicester's wage structure when others demand better wages. Man's a genius.

Jamie Vardy has finally made it as a top player. Using the interest of another club to get him a pay rise and a better contract.

Never mind Arsenal fans, you’ll look like you never wanted Vardy all along when you sign Alvaro Morata, Karim Benzema, Isco, Neymar and all the rest.
It’s all in Arsene Wenger’s plan…maybe.
