After apparently missing out Riyad Mahrez, Arsenal are still in the market for midfielders.
And who would blame them, they only have Mesut Ozil, Aaron Ramsey, Jack Wilshere, Francis Coquelin, Mohamed Elneny, Santi Cazorla, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Granit Xhaka.
So obviously, they want one more.
And they may be in luck, as two Real Madrid midfielders have became available, after falling down the pecking order at the Santiago Bernabeu.
James Rodriguez and Isco are the players in question, as Zinedine Zidane prepares to start the new La Liga season without them.
He’s already let Jese Rodriguez go to Paris Saint Germain, and is open to either man leaving Madrid for regular first team football.
Arsenal have a good relationship with the Spanish giants, after buying Ozil from them back in 2013.
According to Marca, one club has already made a £71 million bid for James, although the identity of said club has never been confirmed.
Arsenal were the favourites to be said club, but when you think of the size of the fee we’re talking about, it’s hard to believe it was the Gunners.
Mahrez appears to be staying at Leicester, after playing in the Community Shield defeat to Manchester United last weekend.
Isco has long been linked with a move to the Premier League, but the former Malaga schemer has not had any bids for him from England, and could face another season warming the Madrid bench.
Looks like Arsenal’s frustrating summer of transfers is set to continue.
