Arsenal are having a pretty poor transfer window.
It all started so well, with Granit Xhaka signing for the Gunners before Euro 2016 started. Brilliant.
But since then, only unheard of Japanese striker Takuma Asano has joined, and speculation has been mounting surrounding Hector Bellerin’s future.
Manchester City have been linked with the Spanish right back, amid rumours that the player is keen to work under Pep Guardiola, and despite Arsenal warning their Premier League title rivals that he is not for sale, we all know how that usually ends up.
City are hoping to strengthen their defence this summer, with Pablo Zabaleta heavily linked with a move to Serie A, and Aleksandar Kolarov also attracting interest.
But Bellerin is happy at the Emirates, and recently signed a new long term deal, meaning City would have to pay a whopping sum to try and prise the Spanish international away from London.
Barcelona made an enquiry earlier this summer, but Arsenal knocked it back as they see the 21-year-old as a mainstay in their defence for years to come.
Bellerin came through Barca’s world famous La Masia academy, and the Catalan giants want him to return to Spain at some point, but Arsenal aren’t playing ball.
And Arsene Wenger is clearly sick of City cherry picking all his players, after losing the likes of Bacary Sagna and Samir Nasri to the Citizens in recent years.
Never mind Pep, Sagna will have to suffice for the upcoming season.
