We fucking love the transfer window.

Everyone scrambles around looking for value in a world where Raheem Sterling is worth £50m, and some truly mental rumours surface daily.

The latest rumour to light up silly season of course involves Arsenal – with Gonzalo Higuain linked with the Gunners – for cash AND Olivier Grioud.

Now we know most people aren’t huge Giroud fans, but he can score a goal or two – when he manages to run quickly enough, and with figures like ¬£30 million plus the Frenchman being bandied around, even the most ardent of Giroud haters might question this one.

Higuain is hot property after banging in the goals for Napoli last season, at one point looking like he could lead them to the Serie A title, and the player could well be looking to move on.

Of course, a move to the Premier League is pretty much the pinnacle for most players – unless Real Madrid or Barcelona are interested – and as we know, Higuain has been there and done that, leaving England as his last big move.

As per usual, Arsene Wenger is in the market for another striker, and has been linked with a move for Antoine Griezmann lately.

However, with the Atletico Madrid striker unlikely to leave his current club after penning a new deal with a huge release clause, Higuain could be a more likely alternative.

Wenger initially courted the 28-year-old when he left Real Madrid in 2013, only for the former River Plate striker to opt for Napoli, where he has scored 71 Serie A goals in three seasons.

Contrast that to Giroud, who has 57 Premier League goals in one season longer, and you can see why Arsenal fans are desperate to get Higuain in – even if it did mean losing Giroud.

Imagine being turned down by Jamie Vardy only to sign Gonzalo Higuain – Twitter would melt.
