Barcelona are ready to take a loss on one of last season’s summer signings, as they look to strengthen their squad ready for the new season.
Arda Turan, who joined Barca from Atletico Madrid a year ago, has struggled since moving to the Camp Nou, and made just 18 appearances last season.
The Catalan giants have already signed Denis Suarez from Villarreal this summer, making it even harder for the Turkey international to get game time.
Barcelona are willing to offload Arda, with a fee around £23m thought to be enough to convince the Catalan club to part ways with the winger.
Liverpool and Arsenal were interested in signing the 29-year-old before he opted for Barca, and could be tempted to bid again.
Despite his somewhat poor European Championships, Chelsea are also thought to be sniffing around the player, with a return to Atleti not ruled out either.
What is clear is that the player has no future at the Camp Nou, after making only nine starts last season, and being regularly overlooked by Luis Enrique, who preferred the central midfield trio of Ivan Rakitic, Sergio Busquets and Andres Iniesta – hardly an easy trio to break up.
Arsenal seem the most likely destination for the former Galatasaray man, as Arsene Wenger looks to strengthen his forward line.
He’s already signed defensive midfielder Granit Xhaka, and could be tempted by a cut price move for Turan, especially if Alexis Sanchez is tempted by Juventus.
Either way, Barcelona’s loss could be the Premier League’s gain.
