Its official. David Moyes has been sacked by Manchester United, following on from their dismal 2-0 defeat at Goodison Park on Sunday afternoon.
Reports were surfacing as of yesterday morning that Moyes was facing the sack but the club itself declined to comment on this speculation. However, Old Trafford officials have this morning confirmed that Moyes has parted company with United. In the press release from United, they state that they “thank [David Moyes] for the hard work, honesty and integrity he brought to the role”
Other rumours are now surfacing that Robin Van Persie directly approached the Glazers on Sunday after the latest loss at Everton, to state that Moyes was in too far over his head and his tactical selections were not beneficial to getting the best out of the side. After the supposed transfer request from Danny Welbeck the day before, was this latest approach from RVP the final straw for the Glazers in their support of Moyes?
Ryan Giggs will now step in as caretaker manager with Nicky Butt his assistant until the end of the season and is also a contender to be the next permanent boss. Other favourites include Dortmunds Jurgen Klopp, Louis Van Gaal and Diego Simeone of Atletico Madrid.
