Chelsea are risking the wrath of rivals Arsenal by offering a place on their coaching staff to Marc Overmars.
Overmars of course played for Arsenal before leaving in 2000, and now Chelsea want him to work alongside Michael Emelano in their academy, helping to bring young players through.
Now while this isn’t exactly on the Ashley Cole levels of betrayal, watching another Arsenal legend try to aid a title rival probably won’t go down well with the north London faithful.
Arsenal fans are getting increasingly frustrated with their summer, and after watching Olivier Giroud move at the pace of a slug in France’s semi final with Germany in Euro 2016, calls for a world class forward are getting louder.
Chelsea meanwhile are facing a huge change this summer, with Antoino Conte coming into the club and several faces expected to leave.
The Blues have a well known (and often made fun of) crop of young players, who usually end up on loan around Europe, so it would be interesting to see if someone like Overmars could actually help bring players through from the academy to the first team.
Good luck with that Marc!
