MMA fans are finally going to see CM Punk enter the Octagon for his UFC debut – so long as everything goes to plan, that is.
As reported by MMA Fighting, Punk – real name Phil Brooks – will fight Mickey Gall at UFC 203 in September.
Punk made the announcement himself on the UFC Unfiltered podcast to hosts Matt Serra and Jim Norton.
Plan is still for Punk to debut at UFC 203 in Cleveland, per sources.

The fight, scheduled for September 10, has been a long time coming with Punk signing to the UFC in December 2014, but experiencing a series of setbacks.
Punk explained what has motivated him to keep chasing a career in the UFC:
I think there’s probably something seriously wrong with me. Everyone is trying to figure out why I would want to do this. I’m a guy who gets bored easily and I have goals and there’s things in life I enjoy. It’s not about the destination; it’s about the journey.
So, in less than three months, we’ll finally get to see if Punk can make the grade in the UFC.
The event in Cleveland will be headlined by a heavyweight title fight between champion Stipe Miocic and Alistair Overeem, but it remains to be seen how high up the card Punk and Gall will be.
Now the Chicago native just needs to stay fighting fit…
