It’s that time of year when managers are forced to sit in press conferences and answer questions about their star players possibly leaving.
It can be a pretty frustrating time, especially as there’s only so many things that managers can say, and most of those are cliches.
“He’s under contract with us and will be until the club decides otherwise.”
“There’s been no contact from any other club, it’s all speculation.”
“I don’t know anything, I was watching porn.”
That last one is a legitimate excuse used by Roberto Mancini, as he answered questions about Mauro Icardi’s future.
The Argentine’s wife and agent, Wanda Nara, has claimed her man/client is up for sale, and that teams are interested in the 23-year-old, including Arsenal.
The Inter Milan manager clearly didn’t want to talk about his striker’s future, so came up with a brilliantly inventive excuse.
I have not seen the news you mentioned, I have not read anything, I do not know why you say anything.
I’m just a coach and this is not an issue about me. He is doing the training and showing endeavor, for me this is important.
I do not read newspapers, do not listen to radio, I’m just watching some porn movies!
I’m kidding of course.
We’re all for entertaining press conferences, because we’d all rather listen to a Mancini rather than a Tony Pulis wouldn’t we?
