The Daily Mirror report that the agreement will see United almost treble their current £23.5million-per-season deal.

Man Utd have endured their worst campaign since the formation of the Premier League and look set to miss out on Champions League qualification for the first time since the 1995/96 season, but with this deal the Red Devils have demonstrated that they are still one of the biggest names in world football.

United’s new £60million-a-season deal almost doubles Real Madrid’s current kit manufacturing deal, which sees the Spanish giants earning £31million-a-season from adidas.

Puma, adidas and Warrior all reportedly held talks with the Premier League Champions over replacing their rivals, but the American giants were determined to keep hold of their prized asset.

United’s chief executive, Ed Woodward, recently suggested the club intend on stepping up their activity in the summer transfer market “in a way we perhaps haven’t seen in recent years” and news of the deal will be welcomed in all quarters of Old Trafford as David Moyes looks to rebuild his faltering squad.

And with a shirt sponsorship deal with Chevrolet due to commence next season, it is clear that the two revenue streams will create significant funds for Moyes to challenge for the very best players in the world this summer.
