Moussa Sissoko has emerged as one of Euro 2016’s standout performers.
The Newcastle United midfielder came into the France side midway through the tournament, and put in some huge displays to keep N’Golo Kante out of the team, as the hosts finished as runners up.
Many pointed to the fact that Sissoko doesn’t fancy a season in the Championship as the reason behind his performances, and the plan seems to have worked, with Arsene Wenger lavishing praise on the former Toulouse midfielder.
Sissoko has spoken of his desire to play for Arsenal in recent months, and certainly fancies the move to north London, as he looks for a way out of St James’ Park.
The thing is, before the Euros, Sissoko saying he wants to play for Arsenal is much like me saying I’d like to take Kate Upton to my local Wetherspoons – it’s going to be flatly ignored.
But now, Wenger has heaped praise on the powerful midfielder, opening up the possibility of a move this summer.
Newcastle have slapped a £35m price tag on their man though, so Wenger will have to pay big to land Sissoko.
I’d pay £35m for France’s Moussa Sissoko.
I’d probably go no higher than £5m for Newcastle United’s Moussa Sissoko.Advertisement

Football is made of opinions, and it is important not to be ashamed of being wrong, the evidence is that I have been in football for 40 years and I’m still wrong.
It is true that Sissoko has been remarkable. One could have asked the question before the [Germany] game: does [N’Golo] Kante come into the eleven?
Didier has opted for stability since the team had won convincingly and he had reason to do so with Umtiti and Sissoko.Advertisement
So it looks like Wenger is a fan of the 26-year-old, and a summer transfer could be on the cards.
Now to get Ms. Upton’s number…
