Arsenal striker Nicklas Bendtner is believed to be targeting a 100 per cent pay rise at his next club, according to reports.

The self-assured Dane’s contract at the Emirates expires at the end of the current campaign and it seems unlikely he will be offered an extended deal.

So with the 26-year-old available to clubs on a free transfer, he is hoping to pocket a whopping £104,000-a-week – a 100 per cent increase on his current salary.

Bendtner came close to quitting the Gunners last summer, but despite interest from Hull and Crystal Palace remained in north London, with Chelsea pulling the plug on a deal which would have taken Demba Ba to the Emirates.

However, the Danish international’s future at the club looks to be short-term, especially since being fined two weeks’ wages for a drunken altercation with a taxi driver in Copenhagen last week.
