What is it about the Olympics that seems to turn elite athletes on?
First, we found out that organisers had given out a record number of condoms (450,000 condoms to be precise) to the Olympic athlete’s village (that’s 42 rubbers per athlete in case you were wondering).
And then we found out hundreds of them were on the
dating casual sex app Tinder. But one sexual encounter between athletes has come at a cost.
A Brazilian synchronised diving team has now split up, after one of the team-mates allegedly banished the other from their room to have sex with a canoeist.
It’s believed Ingrid Oliveira, 20, banished team-mate Giovanna Pedroso, 17, from her room in the Olympic Village to have sex with compatriot Pedro Goncalves the night before they were due to dive. Not very professional that.
Giovanna was understandably pretty pissed off with Ingrid possibly jeopardising her big moment on the world stage.
“I have been waiting for four years to be present at the Olympics and for her it was better to have fun and therefore threw me out of the room,” she fumed.
The duo went on to finish last in the women’s 10m synchronised on Wednesday and announced their separation not too long after.
Apparently this late-night sex sesh was the final straw, as the pair had already had their fair share of arguments in the run-up to their event.

Speaking to O Globo, Pedroso said:
The fight started in training because I wanted to make a jump and she wanted to do another. Me and my coach have talked and after the Olympics I will focus on my individual. It’s good because I will not need to depend on anyone. Then I will be able to improve and evolve more.
We had a fight and were not talking. But at the time of competition we joined because it is a unique moment, [to compete in the] Olympics at home. We leave differences behind and we talked normally. From today I will not jump synchronised with her.
Well I guess there’s always Tokyo in 2020…
