Conor McGregor was incensed by UFC 196 opponent Nate Diaz during their pre-fight press conference following accusations of steroid use.
McGregor, who went on to lose to Diaz in early March, immediately refuted the the allegations at the time.
During the press event he said:
Steroids? What are you talking about steroids?
Don’t be putting my name with steroids. I’m major against that.
Don’t put my name in the name of steroids Nate.
As reported by MMA Fighting, samples tested by the Nevada Athletic Commission and the USADA confirmed the fighters at UFC 196 were clean of performance enhancers.
So that puts Diaz’ allegations to bed. Diaz too was reportedly shown to be clean of using marijuana.
The Stockton fighter has never tested positive in the past, but is widely reported to partake in cannabis use, and his elder brother Nick is currently serving an 18-month ban following a positive result for the recreational drug.
The results were obtained by the combat website following a public records request, plus confirmation from UFC vice president of athlete health and performance, Jeff Novitzky.
Well I’m glad that one was cleared up ahead of their rumoured welterweight rematch which is set for UFC 200.
