Swansea are believed to have sacked manager Michael Laudrup because of a row over the amount of holidays he was taking.

The Danish boss parted company with the Swans last night in what turned out to be a surprise move, despite the club’s recent run of poor form.

However, the real reason behind the departure has apparently emerged – with Laudrup said to have been given the boot after taking another holiday during the season.

According to the Daily Mirror, Laudrup opted to cancel training and take a two-day trip to Paris after Swansea lost their crunch relegation clash with West Ham at the weekend.

The decision to go away, instead of work with the players on correcting mistakes, reportedly infuriated the club’s board.

Laudrup is said to have taken a handful of other trips in recent months, even though Swansea have struggled for form since winning the Capital One Cup last year.

Defender Garry Monk has been put in charge of the Swans for the time being, but the club have already drawn up a list of possible replacements, including ex-Spurs coach Glenn Hoddle.
