Wayne Rooney is being tipped to be the new Manchester United captain after scooping over 50% of the votes in a recent Metro poll.
United boss David Moyes is on the lookout for a new captain after Nemanja Vidic announced that he will be leaving Old Trafford at the end of the season.
And in the Metro’s snap poll of over 2000 votes, Rooney was the clear choice to take on the armband for next season to lead the Red Devils forward.
He claimed 51.5% of the total vote, leaving Jonny Evans and Robin van Persie trailing far behind.
Patrice Evra, who has taken the armband on a number of occasions this term, picked up only 4.73% of the vote – suggesting that supporters are not happy with his leadership abilities.
Interestingly, 18.04% of the vote went for another option, but didn’t specify, with many hints that fans would prefer a new signing to come in and take over the captaincy.
