A women’s rugby team has stripped off and braved the freezing winter weather to pose for a nude calendar which they hope will raise the profile of the game.
The Hitchin Ladies rugby team from Hertfordshire got their kit off to help them bring in vital club funds and raise awareness of women’s rugby.
Twelve players took pat in the risque shoot which saw them pose naked in a number of rugby themed photos, performing penalty kicks, practising scrums and performing a line out.
Team member Claire Crompton, 27, said:
Everyone was a bit shy to begin with but by the end of it we were all just walking around naked. We all shower together at the weekend so it’s not too different to that I suppose.
It did get a bit awkward when we tried out a scrum though. We’re all really good friends and wanted to do something fun to help raise money so this seemed like a great idea.AdvertisementSWNS
Amy Haughton, a member of the team, volunteered to take the pictures and claimed it was meant to be an empowering body confidence sort of thing.
She added that there was no photoshopping and that the images, all of them including curves and cellulite. Rather wonderfully all the women came away feeling confident about the shoot.
Ms Haughton joked:
We’re certainly not supermodels, but we had fun and hopefully we can raise some money and the profile of women’s rugby.Advertisement
The teams 2017 calendar is available to buy on the club’s website for just £10.
