Zlatan Ibrahimovic and David Beckham are good mates.
It’s arguably the most powerful friendship in world football, as Brand Beckham met the world of Zlatan while the pair played for Paris Saint Germain.
The twosome are legends in their own right, and talked to each other before Zlatan signed for Manchester United this summer.
Beckham is currently in the process of setting up his own MLS franchise, and it’s expected that Ibrahimovic will be the first big name signing for ‘Miami United’.
But before then, Ibra has signed a one-year deal with Man United, and Beckham had nothing but good things to say when the giant Swede was deliberating the move.
Beckham is a good friend of mine and he’s asked me to play for his Miami team.
For now, I want to achieve big things with Man United,
I am not ruling out the MLS. Once I had decided to leave PSG there were many offers, but with Zlatan that is normal.
The opportunity to play for Manchester United, and of course to work with my good friend Jose again, was impossible to turn down.
The partnership between Ibrahimovic and Jose Mourinho is once again up and running, after the pair worked together at Inter Milan earlier in their careers.
And the rivalry with Pep Guardiola is set to be revisited, with Zlatan memorably falling out with the former Barcelona coach while at the Nou Camp, and Jose clashing with the Spaniard while managing Real Madrid on more than a couple of occasions.
Manchester should have more fireworks than a Mario Balotelli house party next season.
