Game of Thrones returns in all its gory glory this April and the latest trailer teases a pretty brutal year for all out favourite characters.
The big question is of course, does the trailer reveal the fate of poor John Snow? And the answer is yes, sort of. We see John laying in a pool of his own blood at Castle Black looking pretty dead but the trailer teases a revival with Melisandre and Ser Davos guarding his body, so it seems likely the red priestess will at least try to resurrect him.
Meanwhile over in Kings Landing things are heating up between the crown and the church, with the Lannisters struggling to hold on to the throne and Tommen’s legitimacy in question. Thankfully they’ve got a new secret weapon, the monstrous Ser Robert Strong who may or may not be The Mountain resurrected as some hideous zombie beast.
Up in the frozen north we get to see the aftermath of Stannis’ suicidal crusade against The Boltons in Winterfell, including some pretty graphic scenes of a burnt flayed man. We don’t get to see much of the new bastard in chief Ramsey (Joffrey was the previous incumbent) but we’re pretty sure the psycho will continue to be a major antagonist especially for Sansa and Theon.
Across the Narrow Sea Daenerys is having a pretty shitty time after her dramatic exit from Meereen. The once great Mother of Dragons now appears to be a prisoner of a khalasar and away from her beloved children but Jorah and Daario, are in hot pursuit. Back in Meereen, Tyrion is doing his best to keep the city under control and could be forming a close bond with one of Daenerys other dragons.
There’s plenty more in the trailer including a Arya’s training to become an assassin, Brienne looking pissed off, Bran’s confrontation with The Night King and much, much more which has got me very excited for the new season.
Season six of Game of Thrones will be simulcast on Sky Atlantic at 2am on 25th April, at the same time it airs in the US and will be repeated 9pm the same day.
